Not everyone has the easiest time falling asleep every night. In fact, your lack of sleep might be because of the temperature of your home. Did you know, having your environment too warm or too cool can cause you to toss and turn all night, and not get adequate sleep?
How cool or warm your bedroom feels can diminish your night of sleep or prolong it. Since sleep is integral to being focused and alert, it’s crucial to determine which temperature works best for you. The question persists, do you need a cooler or warmer environment for an optimal night of sleep.
For our bodies to ease into sleep, we have to drop our internal temperatures slightly, which is between 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit. While some people may prefer it to be warmer as they sleep, they have to be care not to make it too hot. If the environment is too humid and stuffy, you may end up having trouble falling to sleep.
It is also important to maintaining a cold, cool environment to maintain healthy sleeping habits. You can also experience difficulty sleeping if your room is too cold where your body may not be warm enough to get a good night’s sleep. Fortunately, you can remedy this, by sleeping with blankets and shed them as you sleep or purchase a smart thermostat and program it to get warmer or cold as you sleep. Although this may seem like a lot of work, it’s worth it for a good night of sleep.
